Team Player: How To Improve Your Teamability

Have you ever wanted to improve your teamability in your personal and professional life? If yes, we are here to tell you how to increase your teamability to make your teamwork more effective so that you and your team successfully accomplish goals.

What is teamability? Teamability is the ability to be an excellent team player in any shape or form. To be a great team player you need to identify what you can do better for your team.

Here are just some ways to be a better team player:

Know What Makes You A Good Team Player

To be a better team player, you need to identify what you are already good at doing. Think back to every team duty you have ever had in your life – both paid and volunteer work.

List down your experiences. Did you have any similar tasks you were assigned? What were you skilled at doing within your team? What made you feel valued and happy to do in the team?

Most tasks that an individual does well in a group make them feel good about being part of the team. The same tasks, responsibilities you succeed inside a group will give you the opportunity to add or swap certain tasks with others to make the team perform better.

Lend A Helping Hand

When you see someone in the group in need of a helping hand, make sure you take the time to offer help. It is not only the leader or manager’s responsibility to help teammates. Do your part.

Ask For Feedback

One of the best ways to improve your teamability is to ask someone for honest, respectful feedback about your team player efforts. The first question you should ask is how the person rates your teamability and what could you do better to improve that rating.

Advertise Your Teamability

Find ways to advertise what you already know to be your best contributions to group efforts. Let team members know about your readiness to take on job challenges and execute tasks productively and successfully. Learn your fit in your team.

Establish Mutual Benefits

When you are part of a team, communication always has to be a two-way street. The team should never stop learning or developing. There are always opportunities to advance talents, skills, abilities, and interests.

When you establish greater teamability together, your options, flexibility and support system broaden and your success probability increases.
